Team Formation Process

·       A panel of volunteers comprising of referees, board members, and other individuals that regularly attend league functions are called upon to put together teams that are equal within a school but not necessarily equal throughout the league.  The criteria they use are as follows:

1.    If a school has more than one team in a particular division, the teams must be equal as possible.

2.    Height, skill level, grade, experience are all factors in team selection.

3.    Each team must have a coach.

4.    Each team must have a sponsor.

5.    Eight players to a team is the desired goal, but in order to keep players at their registered school, teams as high as nine players may be formed.

6.    If there are not enough players to form teams of 8 or 9 players at a given school, then they will be combined with other school teams that are close in proximity.

·       Once the panel has made the selection, it is reviewed to make sure there are no mistakes.  If there are any questions about the fairness of teams within a school, then the teams are brought before a trusted neutral member of the school – such as a P.E. teacher - for further review.

·       We acknowledge that during competition there will always be winners and losers.

·       We also acknowledge that no organization has a perfect system for team formation.

·       With the criteria used, the league does not guarantee that any requests will be granted.
